I really do love Shadow of the Erdtree. I love its varied, spectacular environments. I love how its dungeons are more convincingly integrated into the world design, the map as a whole a puzzle to solve. I love the visual style, how emerging into each area is framed like a renaissance painting of a post-battle autumnal dreamscape.

Beast Claws are one of the new weapon types that have been added to Elden Ring via its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Much like the regular Claw weapons from the base game, Beast Claws allow you to attack enemies with brutal slashes, letting you unleash your inner Wolverine in combat.

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC fans have elevated its once "Mixed" Steam user score, moving into the the "Mostly Positive" category once more.

The DLC initially fell to a "mixed" user rating on Steam after thousands of players logged their disappointment with difficulty and the PC version's performance issues.

One of Elden Ring's most popular mods has now been extended to support the recently-released Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

The mod in question is the 'Seamless Co-op' mod by LukeYui, which was first released back in 2022 for the base game. LukeYui has since been hard at work extending the mod to also work with Elden Ring's DLC - which it now does.

A fresh mod update yesterday now includes working support - though it may not still be perfect. Prior to this update going live, a Seamless Co-op Discord moderator known as Dalvik shared a message from creator LukeYui, stating: "While not perfect, it has reached a state where it can be used to play Elden Ring and the DLC in co-op."

Listen up, Tarnished - Elden Ring worldbuilding writer George R. R. Martin has given his strongest hint yet that the critically acclaimed game may be getting its own "feature film or TV" spin-off.

Whilst Hidetaka Miyazaki has only teased that he and FromSoftware would be open to a live-action adaptation, Martin goes just that little bit further courtesy of his the-lady-doth-protest-too-much-me-thinks protestations he recently shared on his personal blog.

Scadutree Fragments are critical for levelling in Elden Ring DLC, but one savvy player believes they've found a way to find enough fragments to reach level 14 without taking on a single boss.

Redditor Galdiuz2 posted their method to the Elden Ring subreddit earlier this week, including an image depicting where, exactly, Tarnished can locate Scadutree Fragments without encountering any bosses.

Interestingly, u/Galdiuz2's post says you could use this map to get to level 12, but u/gilgabroVII points out that you can actually get to 14 – "17, before any remembrance boss" – as there's at least one more fragment in the starting zone not indicated on the map, "two more in the Scadu Altus, and two in the [Cerulean Coast]."

The release of Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree has reawakened the typical Soulsborne debate around high difficulty, but even the game's creator struggled to play it.

Returning to Elden Ring two years on, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion gives us a fresh chance to reassess developer FromSoftware's work and see how the game now runs on PS5, Series X, Series S and PC across the new Shadow Realm map. The original game's launch exhibited a string of performance issues on PC and consoles, so the hope is that this expansion offers a fresh opportunity to address these issues.

The big questions then: in the intervening years, has FromSoftware improved the game's performance on console? Do any of the game's modes - like the frame-rate, quality and ray tracing modes on PS5 or Series X - deliver anything close to a locked 60fps yet? And as for PC, what's the current state of Elden Ring's optimisation and has its long-standing stutter issues been solved?

The Scadutree Avatar is an optional boss in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but one that you will want to fight if you wish to collect all ten Remembrances in the expansion. It is also arguably one of the toughest bosses, mostly because you have to fight it more than once.

Its name may have you recalling the Erdtree Avatars found in the Lands Between, but we think it bears a closer resemblance to the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, albeit in the form of a giant killer sunflower that can also channel deadly holy attacks. A patch for Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree has been released that revises the scaling of the Shadow Realm Blessings.

The DLC includes this new scaling system to boost the attack and defence of both your character and your spirit summons, by collecting Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes respectively.
