We're into the second wave of AMD's Ryzen 9000 launches, with August 15th 2024 seeing the release of both the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X. These are successors to the beefy 7900X and 7950X, and follow a slightly different pattern to the previous week's 9600X and 9700X.

Our review of these two chips are out, and in short, we're quite frankly looking at some odd results, with fantastic content creation scores while gaming performance is at points better, but worse in some other instances. For everything else though, the 7950X (£443/$511) and 7900X (£322/$359) make more sense.

In the past, we've recommended Crucial's X8 portable SSD for gaming given their small size, and nippy speeds, as well as sensible pricing. The X9 goes one better both in number and in general specs, bringing seriously powerful speeds in a pocketable format that's ideal for games, media and a lot more. From Amazon, you can grab one at a decent discount at the moment in 1TB form - yours for £65, down from a list of £75.

The X9 is rated for speeds of up to 1050MB/s for both reads and writes, giving you a serious amount of power for accessing files on the drive and adding new ones to it. This matches the older X8, which is fantastic considering the X9 is more of the mid-range customer where the X8 was the top of the line choice at the time of its release.

1TB of capacity provides a reasonable amount of space for all manner of data, whether it's games, media or otherwise that you're storing here, while a USB-C connection gives you the chance to use the X9 with everything from a Mac or PC to Xbox and PlayStation consoles without a hitch. The only thing to note is that if you pair the X9 with a Xbox Series X/S or PS5, you can't play games directly off the SSD as the consoles treat external drives as 'cold storage'. That means you'd have to load games from the drive to the internal SSD to play them. It's the same for all external drives that are plugged in, not just the X9.

In amongst the sea of rising SSD prices, the Kingston NV2 has remained a solid value PCIe 4.0 choice for those who want snappy storage for an affordable outlay. From Amazon, the drive is down to one of the best prices we've seen it at in months - just £49 - giving you a solid saving against its previous £64 list price.

For a PCIe Gen 4 drive, this price is particularly ridiculous. However, it does mean you will make some sacrifices compared to some of the absolute best gaming SSDs, for instance. Its speeds of 3500MB/s read and 2100MB/s writes mean it's about half as fast as the likes of WD's SN850X or the Samsung 990 Pro, but it's still going to e a speed upgrade on any older PCIe Gen 3 drives you have, and an even bigger upgrade on both older mechanical hard drives or SATA SSDs that max out at around the 550MB/s range of speed due to the limits of the SATA interface.

Another key thing to note here is that this is a QLC drive, and one that doesn't feature a DRAM cache. This means it may not be the most suitable for intensive tasks such as video production, but for more general stuff such as storing and playing media or games from, the NV2 should be more than suitable. Even without that DRAM cache, there's no reason why you couldn't use the NV2 as an OS drive on a less-powerful machine, where the speed boost may make a bigger difference.

AMD's first run of Ryzen 9000 chips are finallly here, with both the Ryzen 9 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X available to purchase in the UK and US as of August 8th 2024. It marks two years of waiting since the launch of Ryzen 7000 back in mid-2022, which brought with it some amazing performance boosts compared to the previous generation of chips.

Our review of these two chips are out, and in short, we're looking at brisker results with a higher grade of efficiency, making them a sensible upgrade even against the equivalent chips from Ryzen 7000, without the need for a change in motherboard or uprooting your entire system.

There will also be two more higher-end chips, the Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X making their way to us on August 15th 2024, although you'll have to wait a bit longer for both our thoughts, and actually getting your hands on one.

AMD's Ryzen 5 5600G remains a solid CPU for those wanting a reliable CPU for gaming that won't break the bank with solid performance and the benefit of integrated graphics out of the box. From Ebuyer, this six core/12 thread CPU can be yours for £100, providing you don't mind opting for a tray-mounted choice.

Before going any further, it's worth noting what a tray-mount CPU is. Essentially, it means that it comes without a retail box or cooler, in a similar vein to OEM chip deals we've recommended in the past. You are saving £10 or so by opting for this option over going for a full-fat retail 5600G, so it depends on what you'd prefer.

The standard 5600 is a capable alternative to the popular 5600X, with a relatively modest 200MHz drop to base and boost clock frequencies and no PCIe 4.0 support in exchange for integrated graphics, something not present on higher-end Ryzen 5000 processors. That makes it a good choice if you're waiting to add a discrete graphics card to your system later, or you just want a cheap AMD box capable of basic graphics.

One of the things that has been on my desk for the longest is my trusty Rode NT-USB microphone. It's something I've had for at least five years, and used for everything from videos to student radio shows, being easy to use and offering rich, full-bodied audio. The veteran microphone has been knocked down to its lowest price ever from Amazon, sitting at just £83, which provides a hefty discount on its £169 retail price.

The NT-USB offers a premium fit and finish with a metal body that feels excellent, while the plastics used for its tripod stand and bundled external pop filter are also rather solid. Tipping the scales at 520g means this carries some heft, which is reflective of its higher cost, and also helps the mic stay in place on your desk.

There isn't much in the way of additional buttons and dials, apart from two - one for controlling the on-board monitoring volume, and the other for choosing between the mix of vocals and external audio in your ear. The NT-USB doesn't come with a gain dial as other mics do, as Rode sets an ideal gain internally, although you can change it in settings with whichever recording software you're using. Over my years of use, I haven't found it to be an issue.

AMD's Ryzen 9 7900X3D is perhaps best described as the awkward middle child between the top-class 7950X3D and beefy but affordable 7800X3D. With this in mind, it's also been quite resistant to discounts, so finding this one from Ebuyer is especially excellent. You can get a 'tray' version of the 7900X3D for £340 from the online retailer, saving you over £100 on its previous price, and getting you one of these CPUs for not much more than either a 7900X or 7800X3D.

I should say before going any further that this is an OEM chip, as opposed to being a full retail version. In essence, this means it comes without a retail box, or a cooler. However, the 7900X3D doesn't come with a cooler in its retail packaging anyways, so it's just the box you're missing out on here in terms of cosmetics, while saving a fair bit compared to the next best price for a retail chip. The big kicker, in theory at least, is the difference in warranty - usually these OEM chips don't come with as much as the retail chips.

Make no bones about it, the 7900X3D is a brisk chip that benefits from AMD's asymmetric V-Cache allocation in content creation workloads with better multi-threading performance. You still also get the same quantity of V-Cache cores as the 7800X3D - 8 - to allow for some especially excellent gaming perofrmance that beats the non -X3D variant of the same chip. In a general sense, this is a seriously powerful choice for both gaming and content creation with a total 12 cores and 24 threads, with a boost clock of up to 5.6GHz.

Following on from a weird Prime Day discount in the UK on AMD's RX 6950 XT Amazon is back at it again in the USA. This AsRock RX 6950 XT model is down to $420 from AsRock on Amazon, and while it is a 'Used - Like New' model, but the consensus on these is that they are simply customer returns, essentially allowing you to get an as-new card for a fantastic price.

The 6950 XT remains a solid GPU in 2024 in terms of pure rasterisation, with solid results in our testing in the likes of Far Cry 5, Death Stranding and Assassin's Creed Odyssey against Nvidia's last-gen RTX 3090, even if it is slightly off the pace otherwise. In looking around elsewhere, benchmarks reveal the 6950 XT to offer 4070-level performance, while also being 10 percent or so quicker than AMD's own RX 7800 XT. More modern cards from both Nvidia and AMD will offer better ray-tracing performance, but for the money, you'll be hard pressed to find a beefier option in the current market.

While it may not hold up with Nvidia in terms of RT performance and the powers of DLSS, AMD's FSR 2.0 marked a step in the right direction for Team Red's cards to offer better RT performance than before when this card was new, while you can also reap more benefits with support for FSR 3, too. It's also especially handy to see that the 6950 XT also comes with both HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 ports, giving you a lot of choice for I/O and outputs, meaning this is an ideal card to use for high res, HFR gaming, especially with HDMI 2.1 included.

While 6000MT/s or 6400MT/s RAM may well be the sweet spot for newer AMD and Intel CPUs, you can potentially eke out even more performance by opting for an even brisker kit. Kits such as those rated for speeds such as 7200MT/s have dropped in price to more sensible levels in recent months, as this Amazon deal on this 32GB Lexar Ares RGB kit proves.

AMD's last RDNA 3 card, the RX 7800 XT has been one of the better options in this generation of GPUs from both the red and green sides, and it's back down to a rather great price from Amazon. At the moment, the Sapphire Nitro+ variant of the RX 7800 XT is down to £402 from the retailer, providing you with a solid price cut on a card that matches well in places against Nvidia's new RTX 4070 Super, while also being over £100 cheaper than its MSRP.

In our review, we noted the 7800 XT to be an excellent performer for the price at 1440p, especially in non-RT workloads in the likes of Forza Horizon 5. Here, the RX 7800 XT managed to beat off the RTX 4070, as well as in Control, too. Against the RTX 4070 Super, the RX 7800 XT matches well in non-RT workloads, with only a couple of frames separating them in the likes of Control. In Cyberpunk 2077 without RT enabled, the RX 7800 XT actually wins against the RTX 4070 Super, which is testament to its great price to performance ratio. RT performance is an improvement over previous generations, and there are also some especially playable frame rates in the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Dying Light 2, even if Nvidia still holds a commanding lead with its latest cards.

The RX 7800 XT is also a handy card for content creation and similarly intensive workloads. There's support for HDMI 2.1 to connect to modern 4K 120Hz or 8K 60Hz TVs as well as DisplayPort 2.1 for even more future-proofed connections. There is also some solid headroom for using this card for content creation workloads with 16GB of VRAM, too, which is handy, while this Sapphire variant is also one of the cleaner looking models, although comes with quite a thick triple-fan shroud for keeping the card cool.

Micro SD cards in larger capacities are slowly but surely beginning to make more financial sense, as their price becomes more in line relative to that of cards with smaller capacities. To this end, Amazon has a fantastic deal going on a Kingston Canvas Go! Plus 1TB card for £78, which is a solid price for such a massive card.

This specific Kingston card is rated for up to 170MB/s sequential reads, smashing the requirements needed for this card to attain an A2 rating. This makes it an especially snappy choice for use in a Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, Nintendo Switch, or all manner of other devices, such as for action cameras recording at 4K/60fps, or in drones, too.

The fact also remains that you're getting 1TB of space is also pretty damn generous. It means you'll certainly be able to fit an awful lot of games on this Lexar card, as well as a lot of other files, too, if you're using it for more general use, between a range of devices. I've actually been using a 1TB card in my Nintendo Switch, and it's especially handy, even if only for the point of peace of mind, to have such a large capacity. For those recording a lot of high-res video in GoPros and such, a 1TB microSD also gives you peace of mind for storing that video without it needing constant attention to be moved elsewhere when a card gets full.

Crucial's T500 NVMe SSD is one of the best PS5 SSDs money can buy, with blazing fast speeds that put it as one of the quickest options available, while also offering a reasonable amount of capacity, too. The £94 price from Ebuyer for this heatsink model may seem dear, but you are getting around £30 off its list price, as well as the benefit of a free £35 PSN voucher. That's not to be sniffed at.

In terms of pure speed, the T500 is up there with the likes of the WD SN850X and Samsung 990 Pro with its 7300MB/s reads and 6800MB/s writes as one of the nippiest PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs. This provides quick access for loading or accessing data on the drive, while its random speeds of up to 1.15M for reads and 1.44M for writes should translate to incredibly quick boot times. Those speeds also smash Sony's notably stringent requirements for PS5 SSDs, hence the strong recommendation for slotting this drive into your console.

Logitech's MX Master 3S has been my office mouse of choice for nearly two years now, and it's one of the best wireless office mice money can buy for a few reasons. It's comfortable to use, packs in a powerful sensor, offers convenient wireless connectivity options and good battery life. Currently you can grab one for £75 from Amazon, down from its £120 retail price.

The MX Master 3S isn't much of a cosmetic upgrade on its predecessor, sticking with a tried-and-tested design withs its comfortable frame and rubberised soft-touch coating. Its metal scroll wheel offers a precise line-by-line mode with notched, tactile feedback, as well as a smooth-gliding free-scrolling mode ideal for zooming through long documents or web pages, while the main mouse buttons are dampened, meaning they're an awful lot quieter than the older MX Master 3.

Its sensor has also seen its sensitivity double to 8000 DPI. This is plenty for office duties, and makes the MX Master 3S an absolute joy to use. With this in mind, though, this isn't a mouse designed for more than office duties, given that sensitivity and higher weight. For the tasks it's designed for though, it shines, especially when paired with the powerful Logi Options+ software suite. It connects either via Bluetooth or the Logi Bolt USB receiver. Pairing is easy, and it works on up to 3 devices. The MX Master 3S also retains the same 70 days of battery life, too, giving you some solid endurance in between charges.

We've seen some decent reductions on gaming monitors in recent weeks, and if you're in the market for a reasonable choice that hits the sweet spot in terms of resolution and screen size, I've spotted a solid deal from Amazon. Lenovo's R27q-30 offers everything you could want from a modern gaming monitor with a 27-inch screen, 1440p resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate and more for under £200 at the moment.

That combo of a 27-inch panel and a 2560x1440 resolution alongside a 165Hz refresh rate gives you plenty of detail for slower-paced games and work plus a responsive feel that doesn't require the high-end GPU you'd want for a 4K panel. A 180Hz refresh rate also helps to keep motion smooth (overclocked from 165Hz), while a sub-1ms response time at 0.5ms makes this an especially quick choice. There is also support for DisplayHDR400 for offering heightened vibrancy in supported content, although the 400 nits of peak brightness is perhaps on the lower side for delivering a truly impactful HDR experience.

VRR is included as well to smooth out the on-screen action regardless of frame-rate, with compatibility with AMD's FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive Sync. Moreover, as an IPS screen, the 27GR75Q also provides the excellent combo of great viewing angles and marvellous colour reproduction for a vibrant gaming experience. With this in mind, Lenovo quotes the R27q-30 to offer 99% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3 accuracy, meaning it should be able to display mainstream colours for gaming and productivity practically perfectly, as well as doing a marvellous job for a more specialist gamut for more colour sensitive work.

Intel's Core i5-12400F remains a true value hero as a CPU offering potent performance for an incredible price with solid gaming and content creation results in our testing. At Amazon USA, it's down to $110, which is quite a reduction on its previous list price of $206, giving you an excellent value CPU for even less.

At the time of its release, we dubbed the 12400F one of the best value gaming CPUs, even if it has been surpassed in our rankings by the newer 13400F. Still, in our 12400F review, we noted it offered around 85 percent percent of the performance of the then top-end Core i9 12900K in many games at 1080p, with even smaller margins at 1440p and 4K. If you're using a 1440p or 4K monitor, then going for the 12400F instead of CPUs like the 12600K, 12700K or 12900K, or their 13th gen equivalents makes a lot of sense.

The Core i5-12400F, outside of its gaming exploits, is also a great value CPU for content creation workloads, too. While its multi-core scores in Cinebench R23 come in below processors that offer higher core counts, its single core scores put above comparable Ryzen 5000 chips we've tested as well as the fastest 11th-gen Intel processors. That makes it one of the fastest six-core CPUs on the market, only falling behind AMD's base model Ryzen 7000 chips, so if you want to stream games, transcode videos or render 3D scenes, it's a good value choice.

SanDisk's Extreme variant cards have often offered some immense performance with high sequential speeds in decent capacities, and can be had for solid prices when discounted. To this end, Amazon has reduced the price of the 128GB variant of this card down to £12, which is fantastic.

This Extreme card is an A2 rated one, meaning you're able to play games directly off it with some good performance to boot. SanDisk rates it for speeds up to 190MB/s reads and 90MB/s writes, making it a particularly potent choice for use in handheld gaming consoles such as a Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch. For reference, the requirements needed for a card to garner an A2 rating are a sustained sequential write speed of 10MB/s, as well as 2K IOPS random writes and 4K IOPS random reads, so the Extreme smashes them.

128GB of space is reasonable too, and gives you room for slotting a fair amount of games on-board. It also gives you room for storing a solid amount of files, such as high-res video for drones or action cameras that can take up quite a lot of space, or for storing a fair amount of hi-res audio files for using this card in a DAP. You also get the benefit of a full-size adapter for using this card in devices that only support bigger SD cards without a performance penalty, such as some cameras or laptops - that's handy.

The time has come for another excellent John Lewis reduction on one of LG's fantastic OLED TVs, although this time, things are a bit different. The 65-inch LG C3 OLED is available from the department store for £1274, which saves you 15 percent on its usual £1499 list price, although it has the catch of coming with a discount code that can only be used in-store or on the John Lewis app. For posterity only, the code is LGTVAPP15, and to use it, you have to already ve or become a MyJL member (free signup).

The 65-inch C3 is, after all, an LG OLED telly, meaning deep blacks, virtually infinite contrast and generally gorgeous visual fidelity overall. It also benefits from LG's Evo panel to allow for boosted brightness, as it did with the previous C2 model - that helps to solve the big problem of OLEDs with their lacking peak brightness against Mini LED choices, for instance. This C3 also offers solid HDR support, too, with Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10 all in the mix.

As opposed to offering a revolution, the C3 also added some handy new features to refine the OLED experience compared to the C2. These include a new Object Enhancer for enhances foreground characters and props in scenes, and a new feature called AI Super Upscaling Pro which upscales sub-4K footage while reducing any noise to make it sharper. In addition, you also benefit from a brisker Alpha 9 Gen 6 processor inside, and a new version of LG's webOS system. The C3 also has a new feature called Quick Media Switching VRR, which prevents the momentary black screen you get when you switch inputs. All of these are small features, but handy ones.

With the recent news that Microsoft is raising the prices across the board for all of its Game Pass tiers and making big changes to the service, it makes deals like this one all the more pertinent. Currently, CDKeys has 12 months of Game Pass Core (the old Xbox Live Gold) for £31, which you can still stack up for Game Pass Ultimate, although in a slightly different way to previous. It used to be a 1:1 conversion rate - that is, if you loaded up 3 years of Gold, you got 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate for being a 'new' subscriber. However, the ratio has now changed to 3:2 - for every 3 years of Game Pass Core, you can convert to 2 years of Ultimate. The trick still works though, and is quite important if you want to beat those impending price rises.

With my maths being right, all being well, you can take three years of Game Pass Core and turn them into two years' worth of Game Pass Ultimate. Unlike previous instances where it's required you to purchase a stack of three months codes, this deal relies on three simple 12 months codes at £31 a piece. Purchase three of those - that's £93 - and then input them into your 'Redeem A Code' section on Microsoft's website. Redeem them all, and it should say you've got Core until 29th July 2027 (if you do it today). Then, it's a case of converting this all to Game Pass Ultimate.

With this, you've got two ways to do it. Either way, we've got to activate the redeemed Game Pass Core and convert it over to Game Pass Ultimate. You can either simply go to Microsoft's dedicated Game Pass Ultimate microsite, click on 'Upgrade, pay the extra £14.99 charge for a month's Ultimate, and it should convert your three years of Core to two years' Game Pass Ultimate for the total sum of £108.

It's fun when you can get a discount on a product simply by choosing a different colour, and that's exactly the case with this hefty Amazon reduction on the excellent Fractal Design Torrent PC case. In every other option, such as black or gray, and with different side panels or use of RGB, this case is between £165 and £205 on Amazon, but by going for it in white, you're saving an absolute fortune.

This case looks gorgeous in white, in-keeping with the trend of white gaming PCs, while also carrying quite an industrial look to it, too. The Torrent is a case built for airflow with an open grille and a pair of included 180mm front fans for optimal air intake. Combined with yhis, you also get three other 140mm PWM fans for giving your case airflow, while the Torrent also comes with expansive base instakes and support for large fans on the bottom side to help cool your GPU. This is also a bit of an open-plan case to give you both a fair amount of room to build in, as well as to allow for as much air to circulate as possible.

The Torrent's large amount of internal volume also works to its advantage for supporting larger components, such as the oversized E-ATX motherboards, as well as GPUs up to 461mm in length and taller CPU coolers up to 188mm in height. You also get some fantastic room when it comes to radiator support, with either a 360mm or 420mmm radiator supported in both the front and bottom. Western Digital currently has this huge 12TB external drive in stock for £158, which is quite the incredible price. That works out to £13.16 per terabyte of storage, which is one of the best prices we've seen in recent months. If you're someone who's in need of a huge hard drive for, well, storin' a lot of stuff on, this might be the deal for you.

Before I go any further, I should say this is a Recertified drive, according to WD's own standards. According to them, this means it's a drive that may be a customer return and may be repaired. They're all tested to meet Western Digital's quality standards, but may have some small signs of wear. From my personal experience, the handful of HDDs I've bought from Western Digital as Recertified in the past have all been virtually new, so I've recommended them as a place to purchase for a good while.

The big thing with this drive is quite simply the size. 12TB is a lot of space, making it an ideal means for storing a lot of high-res media files on, whether it's music or video. For those wanting to upgrade their PC with faster storage than a mechanical hard drive, SATA SSDs remain an affordable and convenient means of doing so. This goes especially if you lack modern NVMe support, but you still want to reap the benefits of a solid state drive. To this end, the Kingston A400 is a reliable and reputable choice, and from Amazon, it's been reduced to £47 for 1TB.

In doing the maths, this works out to a price of 4.7p per GB of storage, which isn't bad at all, considering how SSD prices have risen over the course of this year. For reference, the A400 first launched in 2018 with a price of £360 on Amazon. This means that in six years of being available, its price has dropped by nearly 90 percent. That isn't something you can really say too much, and helps to explain further why this deal on the A400 really is an absolute steal.

Besides being some insane value for money on paper, the A400 represents a solid choice for upgrading old PCs or laptops on the cheap by giving them a much needed speed boost. Kingston rates the A400 with speeds of up to 500MB/s and 450MB/s in terms of its reads and writes, making it a fair bit quicker than the older mechanical hard drives you're likely to be replacing. If the deal posted yesterday on the popular Corsair 4000D Airflow case isn't for you, and you'd prefer a bigger PC case, boy do I have the dealio for you. The full tower 7000D is much the same as the 4000D and 5000D, only larger and with even better aesthetics, plus it's also the case of choice for the man who tells me what to do - Will Judd. The first thing you'll notice about the 7000D is its sheer size. It's a great mid-range PCIe 4.0 option with good speeds, and in this 4TB size, a larger capacity. The read and write speeds on offer of of 5000MB/s and 4200MB/s respectively means it's going to be a handy upgrade to any older solid state drives you have in your system, as well as a game-changing upgrade over any older mechanical hard drives that you may happen to still be using in your PC. In addition, the fact that this Anywhere 2S is smaller than the bigger MX Master series makes it a better mouse for taking on your travels, as it's easy to chuck into a bag.

Intel's Arc GPUs were a pleasant surprise when they first launched a couple of years ago, taking it to Nvidia and AMD with some more than competent results in a more affordable price category. The 16GB Arc A770 was perhaps the pick of the bunch with more than reasonable results in both 1080p and 1440p workloads, especially thanks to its 16GB of VRAM. Currently, Newegg has this AsRock Challenger variant from Newegg for $270, which is a pretty solid reduction, and you also get the benefit of a free game, too.

With regards to the free game, Intel is offering a choice of four games for you to get your hands on, although naturally you can only choose one. Your options are as follows - Assassin's Creed Mirage, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition, The Riftbreaker - that's quite a strong selection. Newegg reckons it's worth around $45 for your chosen title, and that isn't to be sniffed at.

The A770 16GB proved to be a fantastic performer for 1080p gaming, with our original review noting performance between the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti, meaning Intel's budget oriented GPU is certainly in good company. What's more, it also pulled out a significant lead in RT titles over AMD's own affordable choice, the RX 6600 XT. If we're talking about raw numbers, the A770 in the likes of Doom Eternal was able to pull ahead of the 3060 with a result of 204fps against the 3060's 168fps, while it tied in Shadow of The Tomb Raider with a result of 128fps. Intel's drivers have improved significantly since release too - we've even seen a new driver release in a selection of DirectX 11 titles by an average of 19 percent - so you may find even better results in your own testing.

Okay, it may not be as good as the price we saw when putting together a series of deals for the Prime Day PC last week, but the fact remains that getting Corsair's 4000D Airflow mid-tower PC case for £74 in either white or black from the big online retailer is worth shouting about. It's been around for the last few years as one of the most popular PC cases around being easy to build in while also offering lots of airflow and potential for adding a wide range of components of shapes and sizes.

The 4000D Airflow offers a lot of potential for fan placement, with room for up to six 120mm fans, well as room for radiators, with a 360mm AIO in the front and a 280mm AIO in the top. That's a lot of potential for cooling. What's also quite interesting here is that Corsair bundles a pair of fans inside the case which are designed to move airflow into channels towards key components such as your processor and graphics card, improving temperatures and therefore potentially performance.

In addition, cable management should be a doddle with lots of tie points and velcro included inside the case, and Corsair also offers a reasonable amount of front I/O with the 4000D Airflow for quick connectivity. You get a headphone jack, USB-C and USB-A port, as well as that all-important power button for, well, turning your PC on. The 4000D Airflow can also fit a pair of SSDs and a pair of HDDs inside for more storage, while a tempered glass side panel allows you to show off your build with ease.

AMD'S Ryzen 5 5600X is the slightly older and faster brother to our pick of the best budget AMD gaming CPU, the 5600, coming with a slightly higher clock speed and generally excellent performance for a modest outlay in 2024. From Ebuyer, you can grab a 5600X in more basic 'tray' packaging with a handy discount, with the chip coming down in price to £110 - a handy saving of £22 on its previous list price.

Much like a deal I covered on AMD's newer 7800X3D a few weeks ago, this 5600X isn't technically a retail chip. This is instead a tray CPU, which essentially means you're just getting the chip itself in basic packaging, foregoing the stock cooler that usually comes in the box. For reference, a 5600X in full retail packaging is between £125 and £135 elsewhere, so you are saving a little bit by going for this option. It is otherwise a brand new processor with no other funny business.

With the 5600X, you're getting a capable 6 core and 12 thread processor that should be more than up to the task of both general computing, as well as more intensive workloads such as gaming and content creation. It's got a boost clock of up to 4.7GHz, and can perform well even with slightly slower DDR4 RAM than the performance/price sweet spot of 3200MT/s without much of a performance penalty.

It's a well-established fact that SATA SSDs regularly offer some of the best bang for the buck performance if you're looking to upgrade from an older hard drive to a much more reliable and speedier storage solution, especially if you're changing around storage in a PC that lacks NVMe support. From Currys at the moment, one of the better SATA drives out there, the ever-reliable Crucial MX500 in 2TB form, is down to £100, which is a decent price.

The big thing about the MX500 against a lot of other SSDs at this price point, including Crucial's own remarkably similar BX500, is that it features a DRAM cache. In short, this means the drive offers better random performance and is generally more reliable, making it suitable for an OS install as much as just for general storage. This means the MX500 is a better bet if you're going to be using it as a boot drive in an older system that may only have a mechanical hard drive inside.

In terms of speeds, Crucial rates the MX500 as offering sequential read and writes of up to 560MB/s and 510MB/s, respectively. They may not be up there with some of the best NVMe drives we've seen, but it actually maxes out the SATA III interface the MX500 runs on. The real comparison here is to made with more typical mechanical hard drives, which are around six or so times slower than SATA III-capable drives like this MX500, meaning this is going to be a lot snappier when fetching files, booting your OS, or loading up games, for instance. I've replaced the hard drives of aging systems with SATA SSDs like the MX500 before, and it certainly makes a big difference in boot times.

It's hard to believe we haven't covered a deal on Fractal Design's gorgeous North case, but when it drops to one of the lowest prices we've ever seen it at, it's cause for celebration. At the moment, this trendy case from the Scandi manufacturer has dropped to just £91 with the potent eBay code SIZZLE15 at Tech Next Day's eBay store - that's down from a list of £107.

The reason why I've termed the North to be super trendy in this configuration is because it sits within a couple of important categories. This is a a high airflow case that can handle the high demands of modern CPUs and GPUs which can get rather toasty, while that airflow is also supplemented with the fact this is the mesh version of the North. In addition, this is the white version, in-keeping with the trend of building white gaming PCs. Elsewhere, this is just a lovely case with its oak front piece which is quite unique among other cases at this price, too.

The North has support for a handy range of motherboard sizes up to ATX in size, as well as decent radiator support, too. You can fit a 240mm in the top or a 360mm in the front for solid cooling potential, while it also comes with a pair of 140mm PWM fans to get you started, which is pleasant. GPUs of up to 355mm in length (or up to 300mm with a 360mm radiator in the case) are also supported and while that is smaller than those you can fit in dual-chamber cases in and around this price, it's not too restrictive.

When AMD's RX 7700 XT first launched at £429, we called it a 'baffling' product, especially considering the gains that the simultaneously-released RX 7800 XT presented for £50 or so more. However, time has passed since then, and with it, prices have come down. The 7700 XT, in its Acer Nitro suit, has dropped down to £359 from Currys - that's a solid saving on its MSRP which makes this card a much more sensible purchase than when it first launched.

This newer generation of AMD cards brought with it some improved RT performance, which has allowed the RX 7700 XT to mark itself out as a decent choice against Nvidia's RTX 4060 Ti with reasonably close results in the likes of Control at 1440p, as we noted in our review. The RX 7700 XT's average result here of 41.40fps against the 4060 Ti's 42.05fps present how close these cards can be, while also demostrating how far AMD has come with RT performance when the previous-gen RX 6800 XT garnered an average of 29.43fps.

In terms of pure rasterization performance, it's here where the RX 7700 XT can pull out quite a lead against both the previous generation and Nvidia's options. In Hitman 3 at 1440p for instance, the RX 7700 XT served up an average of 190.34fps, while the 4060 Ti lags behind with a 147.96fps average. The previous-gen RX 6700 XT could only manage 143.1fps at 1440p. It's much the same story in A Plague Tale: Requiem too where the RX 7700 XT's result is a full 32 percent ahead of the 4060 Ti.

I remember when 1TB microSD cards were in their infancy and used to cost a naffing fortune - we're talking £200+ - but over the last few months, they've plummeted in price to levels that make more financial sense if you want one. For Prime Day, this Lexar Play 1TB card is down to £71 - that's a steal for a card this big.

This works out to 7.1p per GB of storage which is a seriously good deal on a card we've recommended in the past for Steam Deck. A large part of that recommendation is the blend of a large capacity for storing games on, as well as its rated speeds. Unlike other instances of Amazon's big sale, this Prime Day seems to have been one of the best ones for PC component deals. So, I had a bit of an idea - what's the best PC you could theoretically build using only Prime Day deals? Some of these are deals we've covered today already, while others will be new - but at the end of it, there will be a theoretical PC build from only Prime Day reductions.

Finding a CPU was actually quite difficult, as the 12400F deal from yesterday has now expired. This was the next best alternative we could find - the plucky Intel Core i5-12600K for £152. That's a low price on a nippy CPU for gaming and content creation, while offering support for modern creature comforts such as DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0.

With this in mind, the 12600K is more than up to the task of modern demands, with 10 cores and §6 threads. In our testing, it's proven to be a potent CPU for gaming workloads, with some excellent results in the likes of Flight Simulator 2020 and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. In the latter, the 12600K actually traded blows with AMD's 5800X3D - that's some solid company to keep.

The Corsair Xeneon Flex is an absolute monster of a gaming monitor, coming with a 45-inch ultrawide LED panel that can bend (!) from being flat to curved for maximum immersion, as well as a 240Hz refresh rate and near-instant pixel response times. This a panel that we rarely see discounted, but for Day 2 of Prime Day, it's down to £1235 from the big online retailer known as Amazon.

That is a fair amount to spend on a monitor, but it gets you arguably one of the most insane panels fitted to a gaming monitor today. The Xeneon Flex employs an OLED panel first and foremost which should ensure vibrant colours and excellent contrast with the inky blacks we've come to expect from top-tier OLEDs. Beyond this, it's also a 45 inch ultrawide panel, giving you oodles of screen real estate to play with, and it makes it one of the bigger ultrawide screens available. The big thing with the Xeneon Flex's panel though is that it's bendable in so much as you can adjust the curvature to get either a flat or curved 45 inch panel, which gives you one of the most immersive gaming experiences available today. As much as it comes at a cost, it's a mental bananas screen, and one Will absolutely loved when he used it in for a review.

In delving further into specs, the Xeneon Flex's panel features a 240Hz refresh rate for super smooth motion, as well as the powers of both AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync for a tear-free experience on both Nvidia and AMD GPUs. It also features one of the lowest response times I've seen on a gaming monitor with a GtG response time of 0.03ms ensuring a responsive gaming experience. Corsair also rates the Xeneon Flex to have up to 1000 nits of brightness, which also goes to show just how ridiculously bright this monitor is.

If the recent deal posted on 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM isn't for you and you want something a little quicker and more forwards looking, then you'll want to sit up and take notice. On the second day of Prime Day, I've spotted this solid reduction on a 32GB Crucial Pro DDR5-6000 kit, which provides both a lot of headroom and fantastic speed that can make a difference in games. It's down to £85 from Amazon today, down from its previous list of £155.

The 6000MT/s speeds available with this Crucial Pro RAM kit makes it one of the speedier DDR5 kits out there. It helps to provide a notable jump in performance compared to slower DDR5-5200 or DDR5-4800 RAM when gaming. We've seen this in testing across a range of different CPUs, with some major jumps at 1080p in titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Flight Simulator 2020. Once you get above FHD though, you're more likely to be GPU-limited, so going for more affordable RAM makes sense - the performance boost isn't necessarily there.

32GB gives you oodles of headroom for all manner of intense tasks, including heavy content creation loads, as well as gaming. In particular, you'll be thankful for the extra headroom when handling high-res video, as it can be easy to soak up more than 16GB. It's also handy to have more capacity if you're gaming while having other programs open. If you've ever had Chrome open while gaming, you'll understand the pain of a program that's quite a RAM hog. Having such a high capacity is just a surefire way of making sure your PC will run smoothly while multi-tasking. Crucial also says this kit is suitable for overclocking with tighter CL36 timings - handy if you want to try and eke even more performance out of your rig. It's also compatible for overclocking with both Intel and AMD systems, too.

Some of Lexar's high power NVMe SSDs have made for some top-class recommendations from us in recent months, including the fantastic NM790 which I've used in a recent PC build. A distant sibling of that drive, the NQ790, which uses QLC as opposed to TLC, and offers ever-so slightly lower read and write speeds, has been discounted on Amazon on its own this Prime Day in its massive 4TB capacity, and is a solid option for its low price.

The NQ790 makes for one of the best gaming SSDs money can buy, and certainly one of the quickest in terms of its raw speed. Its sequential reads of up to 7000MB/s and sequential writes of up to 6000MB/s make it a snappier performer for accessing files. Random performance of up to 800K IOPS for reads and 600K IOPS are also pretty snappy, meaning load times for getting into games and apps should be rather brisk.

The NQ790 can also be chucked into a PS5, with speeds that smash Sony's internal requirements (making this also one of the best PS5 SSDs, too), as well as with a capacity that will boost your overall storage by a large magnitude, whether you're using an OG PS5 or the new Slim model with its bigger internal SSD - I do love 4TB drives for that purpose. The only thing you will need to make sure it'll be fully compatible with use in a PS5 is a heatsink, and luckily they're rather affordable. For a long time, we've recommended this £8 option - grab that, and you'll be good to go with the NQ790 in your PS5.

DDR4 RAM still makes a lot of sense in 2024 if you're angling for a more affordable PC build that packs a punch. This Corsair Vengeance kit has long been one of the most popular choices for builders, and in its 32GB form, it's an absolute steal for Prime Day.

This is a 3200MT/s CL16 dual-channel kit, which is the current DDR4 sweet spot in terms of price to performance. Lower frequency DDR4 RAM incurs a noticeable performance penalty and doesn't cost any less, and you need to spend significantly more to bump up frame-rates by only a few percentage points, making RAM beyond DDR4-3600 not really worthwhile from a value perspective.

This is a 32GB kit too, which provides you with a good amount of headroom to use for more intensive tasks such as content creation and video/photo editing workloads, where you'll be able to feel the benefits of 32GB over 16GB. You could certainly go for a 16GB kit instead if you're only going to be gaming (£35), but given the relatively modest premium for the larger capacity, 32GB makes more sense.

If the Prime Day deal we posted yesterday on the RX 6950 XT for £400 wasn't your jam or you missed out, there is another AMD GPU we've spotted today that might be even better. This RX 7900 GRE is one of the best cards of Team Red's latest run, and takes it to both the RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti, as well as the new Super models of each in our testing. It's a seriously powerful card for the asking price, especially considering this Gigabyte model has dropped well below the £500 mark from Amazon.

In our review, we noted the RX 7900 GRE to be perhaps the most compelling card in AMD's RDNA 3 lineup, offering good performance in RT titles including Control, where at 1440p, the RX 7900 GRE offers a result that's especially close to the RTX 4070. Moving away from RT, the non ray-traced benchmark of Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p actually revealed the RX 7900 GRE to garner a better result (91.4fps) than Nvidia's own RTX 4070 Ti Super (81.92fps), as well as the standard 4070 Ti (78.32fps) and 4070 Super (58.18fps). Bumping things up to 4K, the RX 7900 GRE in Forza Horizon 5 offers a ten percentage point lead over the 4070 Super and a seventeen percentage point lead over the standard 4070. In essence, you're getting a card that offers RTX 4070 performance in RT-based workloads and superior performance to its Super variant in non-RT workloads for less than Nvidia's comparable newer card.

The bump up to 16GB of VRAM also helps the RX 7900 GRE along nicely, comparing well against the 4070 Ti Super's comparable amount, as well as the 4070 Super's 12GB. In addition, it's utilising a 256-bit bus compared to Nvidia's 192-bit one, as well as offering solid rasterization performance. While it isn't a card that'll beat Nvidia in all corners, AMD has certainly given it a good go, making a card that's a compelling option against Team Green in a variety of workloads. As for ports, this Gigabyte variant features a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as a pair of DP 2.1 ports for futureproofing. It also supports AV1 decoding and encoding, which is handy for intense content creation workloads, and makes this a card a fantastic all-rounder for powerful PC builds.

It's the second day of Amazon's mega Prime Day sale, and we're kicking off today with a hefty reduction on one of our favourite pairs of headphones. Sennheiser's legendary HD 599 open back headphones have been a consistent fixture of the German audio brand for nearly a decade, being a a brilliant pair of open back headphones with a vast soundstage and neutral, reference-style sound profile. For the big sale, Amazon has knocked them down to £68, which is fantastic.

Open back headphones, for those who don't know, feature earcups that have been left open, so ambient noise from the enviroment around you, while noise from the headphones are let into the outside world. This helps to provide a more natural sound with a wider soundstage. I've experienced open backs with testing headphones and gaming headsets for the last few years, and they do offer a much vaster soundstage than more traditional closed back cans out there. The HD 599s are no different.

These Sennheiser cans also provide a neutral sound profile, meaning that no specific part of the mix will have too much prominence over other frequencies. This balanced sound profile means you're listening to music as the creator intended, with a bit of added warmth to ensure that the music isn't too fatiguing. It makes the HD 599 a suitable headphone for a task such as audio mixing too, given you're hearing music as it should be, as opposed to with more bass or treble, for instnace.

It's hard to believe that the Asus ROG Azoth, one of the best 75 percent keyboards out there, hasn't been covered in a DF deals piece before, but there's a first for everything I suppose. This is a keyboard that blurs the lines between enthusiast-grade and gaming options with a functional layout, smooth switches, an OLED screen, and a lot more besides, and was one that impressed me in our review. For Prime Day in the USA, it's dropped below $200.

The Azoth offers a functional 75 percent layout, complete with handy creature comforts such as arrow keys and a single-column nav cluster. It also comes with a useful multi-function OLED display in the corner which can be used for displaying everything from media playback, the Azoth's battery life and RGB lighting. There are also other thoughtful physical touches, such as the textured PBT keycaps which feel excellent under-finger that have dual-printed legends for Windows and macOS on them, a function row, and a small cubby hole for its 2.4GHz receiver.

Inside, it features pre-lubed ROG NX Red switches, which are smooth and snappy, making for some of the best stock switches I've used in a while for both gaming and productivity workloads. For more in the way of enthusiast-grade credentials, the Azoth also comes with gasket mounting for a bouncier, more responsive typing feel, as well as being hot-swappable to give users more control over their switch choice. It also impresses with good acoustics too, thanks to the hedload of foam underneath the PCB inside the case for dampening the sound and reducing any unwanted case ping.

Logitech's G915 TKL may be one of Logitech's older models in terms of their gaming keyboard lineup, but it remains a fantastic low profile option that's also wireless and packs in a bevy of features, all for a reasonable price. It still holds up well today, and if you want one this Prime Day, Amazon has slashed the price of it down to £110 from a retail price of £220 - that's half price.

The G915 TKL has been a favourite gaming keyboard of ours for a while, especially with its solid, sleek construction and aluminium top plate that make it one of the sturdiest gaming keyboards I've tested - as well as one of the slimmest, too, but more on that later. As a tenkeyless keyboard, you do miss out on having a number pad in the name of more desk space to use your mouse on. You can grab the G915 in a full size variant, but it's a bit more expensive than the TKL version, especially as you aren't sacrificing too much. I actually prefer TKL layouts, as I don't have too much need for a number pad, although if you asked me what my favourite keyboard layout is, it'd be a 75 percent layout.

Underneath, this G915 features Logitech's GL Tactile switches, which are in actual fact, Kalih's Choc switches. They offer the fun of the feeling of a Brown switch at half the height of a full size keyswitch, offering a handy combo of a tactile bump with a snappier keypress than more standard keyboards. For both day to day use and for gaming, they're a solid all-round switch. In addition to the GL Tactile switches, the G915 TKL features Logitech's handy Lightspeed wireless connectivity, offering a virtually zero-latency connection when used with the bundled USB receiver, although you can also connect it via Bluetooth too, if you want a longer range connection.

The Alienware AW2725DF QD-OLED is a hugely impressive monitor for competitive gaming, as a 1440p 360Hz model that offers a great balance of motion clarity and picture quality. You get the typical OLED benefits - nearly instant pixel response times, perfect blacks, gorgeous colours - as well as the low input lag and motion handling of an esports-grade 360Hz screen.

This monitor is down to £720 on Amazon UK for Prime Day, but it's even cheaper from Dell UK direct: just £679, a great price and £111 less than I paid for this monitor earlier this year!

QD-OLED motion handling is so good that this monitor offers similar motion clarity to a 540Hz LCD, allowing you to get a competitive advantage without needing a PC that can hit such high frame-rates. That's a huge benefit to going QD-OLED, and I've never performed better in CS2 or other titles than I have with this monitor.

A big part of my job at Digital Foundry is testing out PC peripherals like gaming headsets, and my game of choice is always Counter-Strike 2. For these sorts of demanding and competitive titles, you need a headset that delivers the critical information - footsteps, gunfire - with the minimum amount of distraction. The best headsets I've tested on those criteria come from Acezone, and their A-Spire headset is now heavily discounted in the US and UK for Prime Day.

The big draw of the A-Spire is that it is an esports headset, first and foremost, down to the inclusion of active noise cancellation - so that you can concentrate on the game with no distractions. The headset also does a good job with passive sound isolation, while mids are raised slightly to highlight the sounds of footsteps. Finally, the headset is also just really comfortable, so it's easy to wear for long periods of time.

Thanks to these qualities, the A-Spire makes it much easier to excel in tactical games like Counter-Strike 2, Valorant and Warzone 2.0, with good directionality and a decent microphone for talking to your teammates. The headset can even be updated via Bluetooth, allowing you to change settings without installing software on your PC - ideal for a tournament.

Reductions on AMD's previous top-class card, the RX 6950 XT, have been relatively hard to come by, but for Prime Day, Amazon has slashed its price down to £400. I have no idea why, but the fact remains this is a GPU that can play well at 4K and offers beefy performance even in 2024.

The 6950 XT remains a solid GPU in 2024 in terms of pure rasterisation, with solid results in our testing in the likes of Far Cry 5, Death Stranding and Assassin's Creed Odyssey against Nvidia's last-gen RTX 3090, even if it is slightly off the pace otherwise. In looking around elsewhere, benchmarks reveal the 6950 XT to offer 4070-level performance, while also being 10 percent or so quicker than AMD's own RX 7800 XT. More modern cards from both Nvidia and AMD will offer better ray-tracing performance, but for £400, you'll be hard pressed to find a beefier option in the current market.

While it may not hold up with Nvidia in terms of RT performance and the powers of DLSS, AMD's FSR 2.0 marks a step in the right direction for Team Red's cards to offer better RT performance than before, while you can also reap more benefits with support for FSR 3, too. It's also especially handy to see that the 6950 XT also comes with both HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 ports, giving you a lot of choice for I/O and outputs, meaning this is an ideal card to use for high res, HFR gaming, especially with HDMI 2.1 included.

In spite of it being two generations old, Intel's Core i5-12400F remains a true value hero as a CPU offering potent performance for an incredible price. As a part of the big Prime Day bonanza in the UK, we've seen its price drop down to its lowest ever price by some margin at just £85.

At the time of its release, we dubbed the 12400F one of the best value gaming CPUs, even if it has been surpassed in our rankings by the newer 13400F. Still, in our 12400F review, we noted it offered around 85 percent percent of the performance of the then top-end Core i9 12900K in many games at 1080p, with even smaller margins at 1440p and 4K. If you're using a 1440p or 4K monitor, then going for the 12400F instead of CPUs like the 12600K, 12700K or 12900K, or their 13th gen equivalents makes a lot of sense.

The Core i5-12400F, outside of its gaming exploits, is also a great value CPU for content creation workloads, too. While its multi-core scores in Cinebench R23 come in below processors that offer higher core counts, its single core scores put above comparable Ryzen 5000 chips we've tested as well as the fastest 11th-gen Intel processors. That makes it one of the fastest six-core CPUs on the market, only falling behind AMD's base model Ryzen 7000 chips, so if you want to stream games, transcode videos or render 3D scenes, it's a good value choice.

Micro SD cards in a capacity larger than a terabyte have been a rarity, as it's pushed the limits of what's possible with flash storage. However, we have begun to see larger cards make their way onto the market, as well as also drop in price as they get further into their life cycle. This 1.5TB SanDisk Ultra option is a powerful performer and thanks to a Prime Day discount, it's down to its lowest price ever.

The big thing here is the massive capacity on offer here, giving you as much space as many comparatively priced top-class SSDs in some cases. It's a lot of space for storing games on on a handheld console, or for storing 4K video, which can be quite a storage hog if you're filming a lot at once. The previous biggest Micro SDs were a terabyte in size, so this is giving you an extra 500GB to play around with, and that's a lot more space for not much more in terms of outlay.

This SanDisk Ultra card is an A1 rated card in this config, meaning you're able to play games directly off it with some decent performance to boot. Despite that lower rating however, SanDisk rates this ard for up to 150MB/s reads and writes, which make it a fantastic performer for the price. For reference, the requirements needed for a card to garner an A1 rating are sustained sequential write speed of 10MB/s, as well as 0.5K IOPS random writes and 1.5K IOPS random read. With this SanDisk card's speeds in mind, it makes it a good choice for both Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch use - this card has been recommended in both of our guides in the past for that very reason.

Alienware's AW3423DWF has long been a Digital Foundry favourite gaming monitor for good reason, with its sublime image quality, gorgeous design and great feature set. It's currently on the receiving end of a large discount from Best Buy in USA with $200 knocked off its $900 list price to bring it down to a new all-time low price. If you've been in the market for a fantastic QD-OLED ultrawide, this may be the time to pounce.

What makes the AW3423DWF so special? Well, its Samsung QD-OLED panel provides the benefit of both a bright image and the signature deep blacks and incredible contrast afforded by the combo of a QLED and OLED into one panel type. You also get the benefit of near-instant pixel response times and wide viewing angles, which is handy on an ultrawide like this one. On that note, the 3440x1440 ultrawide resolution that the AW3423DWF has is well supported in modern PC games and works well for productivity tasks too, and games benefit from FreeSync/G-Sync support and the 165Hz refresh rate.

As the -F variant of this monitor, it is a little bit different to the standard AW3423DW we've rated so highly in the past, but the changes it features make virtually no difference in real world testing. For those interested, those changes are a 10Hz lower refresh rate and the fact it doesn't come with a physical G-Sync module. In addition, the AW3423DWF also comes with a notable upgrade with a pair of DP 1.4 ports and one HDMI 2.0, as opposed to it being the other way around on the AW3423DW.

AMD's RX 6800 remains a fantastic card for non-RT 1440p and even 4K gaming in 2024 and as a new generation of cards has come out since its release, it means it's become a relative bargain. To this end, Newegg offering this XFX Speedster variant for $340 is quite the steal, if you want to grab a capable GPU for nippy performance at both 1440p and 4K for a lot less.

In our review, we noted the RX 6800 to be an excellent performer at both 1440p and 4K, and it's only gotten even better, considering the price of this card in the current market. For instance, in Doom Eternal at 4K, a result of 133fps represented a massive generational leap compared to RX 5000-series cards, as well as a boost of 20fps over Nvidia's RTX 3070. Moreover, in the more intensive Borderlands 3, the 6800 served up a result of 54fps at 4K, wbich makes it over 20 percent faster than the RTX 3070, and an even bigger 61 percent quicker than the older 5700 XT. In short, the RX 6800 is a seriously powerful GPU, especially considering its price here.

In addition, there are some instances where the 6800 also performs better than current-gen AMD hardware. For instance, in Control, the 6800 mustered an average result of 91.21fps at 1440p where the current-gen 7700 XT only managed 83.64fps. It's the same story in Cyberpunk 2077 too where the last-gen card beat off the current gen 7700 XT by a small margin - 65.72fps vs 63.57fps at 1440p.

Who needs a trendy white gaming PC in 2024 when you can have a blue one? That seemed to be the question that Montech posed when developing this Sky Two mid-tower PC case, as they don't seem to be all that common. If you do want one, it's a tenner off at Scan at the moment - down to £70 - and you too can live out your wildest dreams of owning and building in a blue PC case.

This may not be a trendy dual-chamber fishtank style case, as is seemingly customary for most of the builds we see these days, but the Sky Two offers a reasonably large amount of space to build inside, with support for large GPUs and taller CPU air coolers. For those two measurements, the Sky Two supports GPUs of up to 400mm in length, and CPU air coolers up to 168mm in height, giving you options to install beefier choices without any compatibility issues. You also get integrated glass panels on the front and side for showing off your rig, which is handy, while the Sky Two also supports vertical GPU mounting with a compatible kit.

The Sky Two also comes with four 120mm fans pre-installed, with two on the side panel, one as an exhaust in the back, and a final one on the bottom side for directly cooling the GPU. The fans themselves have rounded edges for a modern look, and a fair helping of RGB. It also offers lots of room for cable management, with a convenient channel for routing them through and three velcro strips for keeping them all together and neatly in place.

Intel's 12th-gen CPUs may be getting on a bit now, but some of them still remain fantastic options in relation to the modest upgrades that the last two generations have provided, and also considering the current large pickle Intel finds itself in with 13th and 14th gen chips. Being slightly older also means you can get some potent processors for a lot less. For instance, the nippy 12700KF with its 12 cores and boost clock of up to 5GHz is well under £200 from Amazon at the moment, although you will be waiting a little due to the current estimated delivery date of mid-September.

The 12700KF is identical to the 12700K we've tested, but it just comes without any integrated graphics. Otherwise, they're completely the same chip which has all the makings of a brilliant CPU for intensive workloads on paper, with a generous helping of cores, threads and overall speeds. To be precise, you're getting 12 cores - split asymmetrically between 8 Performance and 4 Efficiency cores - and 20 threads to make this quite a beefy choice for gaming and content creation alike. A boost clock of up to 5GHz is also speedy, while its 125W TDP seems reasonable for a processor of its competency. The M2 processor inside the Air makes for quite an efficient and powerful one. It comes with eight CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, and is a powerful option for video editing that outruns even the fastest Intel-based Mac desktops and laptops. M2 represents only a small upgrade over M1, so we wouldn't recommend this for anyone that's already on an M1 machine unless they're really testing the limits already. However, if you're moving from any form of Intel-based MacBook, then you're going to see some beefy performance boosts - it's night and day difference. Take it from me as someone who moved from the last of the Intel-powered MacBook Pros to an M1 Pro option.

Razer wouldn't be the first brand that comes to mind when it comes to a pre-built PC, although they have done components for a while. The 7800X3D is the best gaming CPU money can buy, offering espeically beefy performance in games that far outweighs its price tag, relative to the other chips that sit above it from both AMD and Intel. In our review, we noted the 7800X3D to offer some rather stellar performance, with some fantastic benchmark results in the likes of Flight Simulator 2020, where AMD's chip posted a result of 96.7fps at 1080p and in Metro Exodus EE where the 7800X3D pulled ahead of AMD's own 7950X3D and Intel's 13900K with a result of 299.28fps at 1080p.

Whichever way you cut it, the RTX 4080 Super wasn't the most exciting launch from Nvidia back in January, in spite of all the hype surrounding the new Super cards. Discounts on the big lad have also been quite hard to come by, so when we do find one, it's worth talking about. From Very, this MSI Ventus 3X OC variant is 10 percent off with code VTQ9M, bringing its price down to below £900.

The 4080 Super was a card more about a price cut than its boost in performance over the standard 4080, considering the normal card originally retailed for north of £1100, which was hilariously expensive at the time. The Super offers better performance by a handful of percentage points, but the fact is that it brings solid performance for 4K, ray-traced games at a lower price. In our review, we noted the 4080 Super to offer some high-riding results in the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, where with RT on, it garnered an average FPS of 42.05fps, while in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, its 71.84fps average result is excellent, too. Those figures are also significantly better than AMD's top-drawer RX 7900 XTX. In pure rasterisation terms in the likes of Forza Horizon 5 and Control, the 7900 XTX is a better card with more VRAM and the like, but the Super offers better ray-traced performance - it's horses for courses, but depends on what you'd prefer.

Getting a discount on one of LG's larger-screen C3 OLED TVs, in spite of all the other reductions we've seen since their release, has been a bit more difficult. However, with the release of the newer C4 series, it has predictably caused prices to fall. Currently, from Smiths TV, you can net a £250 discount on this 65-inch C3 model, which brings it down to a solid £1249 - that's not a bad price on one of the best gaming TVs out there.

Being a C3 means we're getting minor improvements and refinements over the C2 series, but ones that are worthwhile for improving quality of life, too. For instance, there's a new processor, the Alpha 9 Gen 6, to offer a snappier user experience, combined with an updated form of the webOS operating system for slick and easy navigation. What's more, there's also a new Object Enhancer, which enhances foreground characters and props in scenes, and a new feature called AI Super Upscaling Pro. This upscales sub-4K footage while reducing any noise to make it sharper, which is a nice touch. The C3 also has a new feature called Quick Media Switching VRR, which prevents the momentary black screen you get when you switch inputs. All of these are small features, but handy ones.

This is, after all, one of LG's OLEDs, which means we're getting the signature deep, inky blacks combined with marvellous detail and incredible contrast. As this is also one of the larger panel choices, this 65-inch model also benefits from the inclusion of an Evo panel for boosted brightness that smaller options lack. There's a handy complement of HDR support with Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10, as well as a 4K resolution for fantastic visual fidelity. The C3 also supports Filmmaker Mode, so you can view movies as the director intended, if you want a more authentic experience.

As much as AMD's RX 7600 seems to be the black sheep of the familar when it comes to RX 7000 GPUs, it remains a competent choice for 1080p gaming with solid results in a range of titles in our testing. Today from Newegg, this AsRock Challenger variant of the card is down to $230, which is a decent price on an equally decent card.

It may not be as quick as even Nvidia's last gen cards or, in some titles, Intel's Arc GPUs, as we found out in our 1080p GPU shootout a few weeks ago, but the results that AMD's latest GPU provides are still more than playable. A result of 52.51fps in Hitman 3 at 1080p for instance may be off the 68.37fps that Intel's Arc A750 and A770 both provide, but it still represents a solid result over the previous gen's RX 6650's result of 40.48fps as well as the RX 6650 XT's 49.05fps result, showing a decent generation-on-generation upgrade.

This also becomes apparent when looking at the results for Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition where the RX 7600's uprated RT performance actually allows it to beat the RTX 3060, and pull even further ahead of the RX 6650 and RX 6600. It's also the same story in F1 22, too. In taking a look at non-RT performance in the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 though, it's here where the RX 7600 begins to stake more of a claim as a solid 1080p GPU. For reference, its result of 74.06fps is quite a way ahead of the RTX 3060's 56.94fps result, as well as both the Intel Arc A750 and A770. The only GPU that beats it off comfortably is the RTX 4060 Ti, although that'll run you a bit more in terms of cost.

As the old saying goes, it's not about size, it's about how you use it. And, if you're someone who wants to try out a smaller PC case option, then do I have the deal for you. This wonderfully tiny Fractal Terra Mini ITX case is down to $139 in the graphite colourway from Amazon USA. By going for this particular colour variant, you are saving $40 or so compared to the white and green, and that's worth it in my book.

Nonetheless, I love the look of the Terra a lot, with the cool graphite aluminum side panels offset by the slab of walnut on the front. It's a case that would fit well if you're going for a modern aesthetic, but one that's a bit more refined than the sea of RGB you might be used to seeing in gaming dens, and would work well in a Scandinavian-inspired setting. The big thing here (or rather not) is that the Terra is a small form factor case, being designed for Mini ITX motherboards, specifically. Of course, this does limit your options in terms of other parts, but the Terra can pack a lot into its small volume. Fractal says you've got enough space for a triple-slot GPU that's up to 320mm long, as well as a pair of 2.5-inch SATA SSDs in its drive bays, an SFX or SFX-L power supply and 120mm radiators or fans.

Of course, this may not be the most ideal if you're wanting to go all out with your build, but for what most people are likely to pack into the Terra, it's going to be more than fine. What's also rather handy about the Terra is that all of its panels require no tools for you to access them, making it easy for you to access all your components. Its front facing ports are as minimal as the looks, though with a singular USB-A and USB-C, while Fractal also makes a lot of the fact you can lock the side panels in place if you want to take the Terra on your travels. With it being such a small case, you could conceivably do so.

Nonetheless, there's no denying this Fractal Terra is a stylish looking case, and for those who fancy a small form factor build, this is a great starting point.

Apple Silicon has breathed new life into MacBooks with much better overall performance, not to mention large gains in battery life, too. The M1 MacBook Air was the laptop to kickstart this MacBook renaissance, and even though it's now a few years old, remains a top-class ultraportable laptop for students, creatives, or anyone else who needs one. Being a slightly older machine means it can now be had for quite reasonable money - a case in point is this reduction at Walmart, which takes it down to the bargain price of $650. That deal is also on a range of colours too - either Space Gray, Gold or Silver - which is rare for MacBook discounts.

Thermalright has developed a bit of a reputation when it comes to affordable coolers which exceed their value in most instances. Their fantastic Peerless Assassin has reached legendary status as an affordable cooler that far exceeds its price point, being able to cool even some of the quickest chips well without really breaking a sweat. To this end, the £27 price tag it currently carries on Amazon constitutes quite the steal.

This Peerless Assassin is a dual-tower air cooler, which should provide enough cooling power for a large range of both AMD and Intel CPUs, judging by its previous results. It comes with dual 120mm fans, as well as six heatpipes. The fans on offer here are a pair of Thermalright TL-C12 PWM options, which offer speeds of up to 1500RPM and a rated airflow of up to 66.17CFM, which is in line with more premium choices that cost a lot more, such as the Noctua NH-U12A and bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 4.

They make some excellent SSDs though, including the especially nippy Platinum P41, which offers solid speeds in a good capacity with this 2TB model. In terms of pure speed, the Platinum P41 makes for one of the best gaming SSDs out there, with maximum sequential read and write speeds of 7000MB/s and 6500MB/s respectively. Its random performance, a better indicator of real-world game load times, is also up there with the very best with up to 1.4M IOPS for reads and 1.3M IOPS for writes - that's quicker than the WD SN850X. The only way to get anything quicker is to go for a PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, which at the moment are few and far between, as well as being hilariously expensive at this capacity - the Crucial T705, for instance, is $295.

Even in 2024, AMD's RX 6600 remains a solid GPU for 1080p and even 1440p gaming, coming with decent performance in our testing, while also being able to be had for quite an excellent price. At Overclockers, this AsRock Challenger variant is down to £185, which is a far cry from its debut of over £300 when the card first launched.

The RX 6600 is a generally solid card for 1080p card, and one we noted in our review to be on a similar level to Nvidia's comparably last-gen RTX 2060 Super and a pretty worthy adversary to the 3060. In the likes of Doom Eternal at 1080p for instance, the RX 6600 managed a result of 197fps or so, while putting things to the max in more of an intense title such as Borderlands 3 allowed the RX 6600 to post a result of 77.65fps. This is on par with an RTX 2070 Super and beats off an RTX 3060, meaning the 6600 is a pretty handy performer for Full HD titles.

It's also a handy media solution too, with support for both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 output, as well as AV1 decode, all within a rather affordable shell, especially considering that a few months back, this card was pushing £300 in the sales. To get all this in a card with a TDP that isn't too high is especially handy at a time when the cost of electricity is getting pretty expensive.

I don't know what's in the water over at Newegg at the moment, but there's a serious deal on a fantastic mechanical keyboard with over $100 off its list price. The Mountain Everest 60 is one of our favourite 60 percent keyboards because of its clever modular design and thoughtful touches overall, and Newegg has knocked it down to $20. Yep, twenty bucks. This is a keyboard that regularly goes for a hell of a lot more than this, and has made headlines when discounted closer to $75, let alone a price this low. I'm not sure why the online retailer has done this, but I'm all for it.

As the name suggests, it's a 60 percent layout option, giving you the alphanumeric keys you need and little else - no nav cluster, no function row. However, the Everest Max 60 comes with arrow keys, providing a little more in the way of functionality than other keyboards with the same layout. Elsewhere, it looks and feels excellent with an aluminium faceplate for extra durability, while this keyboard also comes with extra-durable PBT doubleshot keycaps comprised of quality plastics with legends that will never fade. On a keyboard at this price, that's seriously good.

That combo of a 27-inch panel and a 2560x1440 resolution alongside a 165Hz refresh rate gives you plenty of detail for slower-paced games and work plus a responsive feel that doesn't require the high-end GPU you'd want for a 4K panel. VRR is included as well to smooth out the on-screen action regardless of frame-rate, with compatibility for both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD's FreeSync Premium. Moreover, as an IPS screen, the 27GR75Q also provides the excellent combo of great viewing angles and marvellous colour reproduction for a vibrant gaming experience.

The 27GR75Q also comes with a quoted 300 nits of brightness offering some decent vibrancy, while its quoted 99 percent coverage of the sRGB colour space means that it's perfectly fine for colour-accurate work in SDR. In the UK at least, discounts on Alienware's latest crop of QD-OLED monitors have been few and far between, while folks in the USA have enjoyed a raft of reductions of varying kinds. Today from Dell, the excellent AW3225QF, which is easily the best gaming monitor we've tested, is down to £910 - that's a useful reduction on its previous £989 list price.

The other big thing about this discount, apart from its mere existence, is the fact there's no hoop-jumping or code to enter. The monitor is just down to that price from Dell - previously, discounts were available either by student discount services, workplace discounts, or through Dell's Advantage scheme. So, I think this marks the first truly accessible discount on this magnificent panel.

The fact remains is that the AW3225QF is a brilliant monitor that packs in all of the desirable high-level specs you could dream of in a gaming monitor in 2024. Being 4K means it'll offer up some incredible detail, while a 240Hz refresh rate offers immensely smooth motion. Oh, and this is also a QD-OLED panel, too. This has been seen before on some of Alienware's monitors before, and combines the marvellous contrast of an OLED with the brightness of a QLED in one powerful panel, but the experience is even better with this panel being one of Samsung's 3rd-gen QD-OLED options. I've been a long-term user of Western Digital hard drives since I first bought one as an expansion drive for my Xbox One around ten years ago, and ever since then, I've amassed a stack of cut-price drives for storing media and important files on. In my experience, they've been nothng but reliable, and have worked without a hitch. With this deal on a recertified My Passport Ultra drive for Mac, you too can add a larger HDD for storing all sorts of things on. This is a 5TB option, which is currently down to £80 from WD directly, and gives you a handy saving from its list of £165.

Before I go any further, I should say this is a Recertified drive, according to WD's own standards. According to them, this means it's a drive that may be a customer return and may be repaired. They're all tested to meet Western Digital's quality standards, but may have some small signs of wear. From my personal experience, the HDDs I've bought from Western Digital as Recertified in the past have all been virtually new, so I've recommended them as a place to purchase for a good while.

The fact is that you're getting five terabytes of storage here, which is a lot for cold storing a lot of media and even a full Steam library, although you will be better off moving games to an internal SSD for speedier performance. You can also use this drive for cold storing current-gen console games too, although this drive is far from speedy enough for playing the games off. Even then, being able to have such a large amount of usable storage when games are constantly getting bigger in size is marvellous for fitting more on.

Overclockers has currently knocked £100 off best gaming CPU money can buy today. That's right - AMD's excellent Ryzen 7 7800X3D has dropped down to one of the lowest prices we've seen it at, being £315, and if you're in the market for a new chip for gaming workloads that beats off literally anything else, now may be the time to act.

As the successor to AMD's highly-rated 5800X3D, it's fair to say we had high hopes for AMD's Ryzen 7000 equivalent. However, the 7800X3D surpassed those expectations, given its sheer performance. The eight cores and 16 threads on offer at first don't seem like they'd make the 7800X3D the ultimate gaming chip, but it's because of its single chiplet design that allows it to run faster in games than the higher-end dual-chiplet 7900X3D and 7950X3D. In our review, we noted the 7800X3D to offer some rather stellar performance, with some fantastic benchmark results in the likes of Flight Simulator 2020, where AMD's chip posted a result of 96.7fps at 1080p and in Metro Exodus EE where the 7800X3D pulled ahead of AMD's own 7950X3D and Intel's 13900K with a result of 299.28fps at 1080p.

A TDP of 120W means it's also quite an efficient chip given the performance on offer, too, and it isn't too difficult to cool. I'm currently running one in a new PC build, and the Noctua NH-D15 I'm using is almost overkill for it. The only chink in the 7800X3D's armour is its suitability for content creation workloads. While its results in synthetic benchmarks still ahead of Ryzen 5000 chips, they actually fall behind even AMD's own 7600X, the base model chip in the Ryzen 7000 lineup. It's still perfectly capable of running content creation workloads, although not as efficiently as AMD's non-X3D chips of a similar stature.

We're seeing a lot more in the way of USB-C flash drives come onto the market as laptops and PCs increasingly opt for the smaller, more powerful connector over the ailing USB-A standard. Just look at what's happened to MacBooks over the last few years, and you realise how ubiquitous USB-C really is these days. To this end, having a zippy USB-C flash drive is always useful, and they've come down in price since their infancy. For instance, this cute little turquoise candidate from SanDisk offers 128GB of capacity, and is down to £11 from Amazon, saving you a few pounds on its usual £14 list price.

The big thing that this USB-C flash drive offers over the older USB-A ones we're used to is, put simply, speed. Some of SanDisk's Ultra USB-A drives top out at 150MB/s, which is equivalent to some nippy microSD cards out there, while this USB-C option can deliver speeds of up to 400MB/s, which are close to that of a full-fat SATA SSD for a desktop PC. Brisker speeds mean quicker access to data, both in the sense of reading and writing, and this SanDisk drive is one of the speediest flash drives out there for the price.

You also get the benefit of a 128GB of capacity, which is probably a lot larger than the pile of all your old USB flash drives put together. It's quite well known these days that the restrictions Sony has on PS5 SSDs can be a little fiddly, with arguably the fiddliest being the requirement for a heatsink for better transfer of heat. I'm not sure what's in the water at the moment, but this is now the second big discount we've spotted on one of LG's newest OLED TVs, and boy is it a big one. AMD's RX 6750 XT was one of the last cards to emerge from the RX 6000 generation, appearing in May 2022 as a card in the middle of both the excellent RX 6700 and 6800, making it on paper a solid option for both 1440p and 4K gaming in certain instances. It's a card that has become a lot more affordable than its initial £500+ MSRP a couple of years ago too, making it a great bang-for-the-buck choice. For instance, using the lucrative SUNSZN15 discount code on Ebuyer's eBay store, the XFX Speedster variant has dropped down to £288, which is the best price you can get it at the moment.

The 6750 XT serves up some excellent results, as we found in our review. A result of 113.37fps in Doom Eternal at 4K is respectable and helped along with the card's generous helping of 12GB of VRAM, while the likes of Far Cry 5 at 1440p with a result of 139.24fps is also decent - this particular result is within a handful of percentage points of Nvidia's RTX 3070, and comes with a commanding lead over the RX 6700. A result of 134.01fps in Assasin's Creed: Unity at 1440p also offers a healthy lead over the RX 6700, too, while being within a frame of the RTX 3070. All in, this is a solid card with some solid headroom that'll allow for 1440p and 4K gaming, to a degree.

As well as offering some excellent performance, the RX 6750 XT also marks itself out as a handy card for content creation and similarly intensive workloads. 850W of power is enough for powering even some pretty beefy systems.
