• The number of homeless has doubled since 2002

• 126,000 people in Vancouver are at risk of becoming homeless.

• BC had the highest overall poverty and child poverty rates in Canada in 2004

• Over 840 individuals and families used Gather and Give's services in 2005

• We shipped 2500 blankets and 1000 pairs of socks to shelters in 2005

• 60 starter kits go out every month to help people get back on their feet

• Over 80 front line organizations in  the Greater Vancouver Area use our services.

Gather & Give Charitable Foundation seeks to fill in the gaps that exist in the Greater Vancouver Area surrounding the issue of poverty. Our Home Essentials Kit program is one such initiative. Our storage facility is another.

In the future, we intend to look further at other issues that need to be undertaken to ensure that people's needs are being met, both for front line agencies and the community in general.

We will also strive to be an information source for specific issues surrounding poverty, housing initiatives, the working poor, issues related to immigrants or refugees, and the organizations that are working in these related fields.
